What’s the best comic you’ve ever read?
Erin, Madrid, Spain
🌟
Dear Erin,
I could give you a really long answer to this question, listing all the epic, expansive graphic novels that build incredible worlds, spin high octane plots with complex characters; stories that I return to again and again.
I could wax lyrical about how sequential art, in the hands of a master craftsperson, is capable of illuminating the biggest mysteries of love, life and the universe; how the medium deserves its place as one of the great arts.
I could rave about the epics: Maus, Alone In Space, Berlin, Palestine and Il Etait Une Fois En France.
But this scrappy four-panel comic by Lynda Barry, tucked away on the back cover of her book Making Comics…well Erin, it is everything.
